Invited Guest Speaker, Dr. Nancy Chick on Cultivating a Community that Values the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Educational Research

Monday, April 22, 2024, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

All at UofG are Welcome

Drawing on her extensive leadership and expertise in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), Dr. Chick will share her perspectives on and experiences with creating an institutional culture that recognizes and values SoTL and scholarly teaching. She will discuss the opportunities and impacts of embracing SoTL as an institution, including how engaging in SoTL can empower us as educators, and support teaching effectiveness and student success.

The pandemic and the rise of AI in higher education have sparked conversations on our campus about understanding the effectiveness and impact of our teaching and assessment approaches. As a result, more faculty, instructors, staff, and graduate students are engaging in SoTL, informally or formally, to better understand what’s working in various learning environments. Dr. Chick’s session will inspire those new to SoTL, and experienced SoTL and educational researchers, to consider how we can create a culture within our departments, colleges, and at UofG to recognize and value the importance and impact of SoTL.
