Two New Workshops for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars in February!

Posted on Tuesday, February 11th, 2020

The Office of Teaching and Learning is very happy and proud to be partnering on two new exciting educational development workshops for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars - one with the Wellness Education & Promotion Centre, and one with ARC (the Aboriginal Resource Centre) - as elective workshops in our University Teaching Foundations (Foundations) program.

They are:

"Beyond the Books: Mental Health Training" with Dr. Sara Kafashan, Mental Well-Being Facilitator

  • Thursday, February 20th, 2020 - 2:30-4:30pm (UC 441)

"Acknowledging Indigenous Lands" with Dr. Cara Wehkamp, Special Advisor to the Provost on Aboriginal Initiatives

  • Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 - 8:30-10:30am (UC 001A - PCH North Wing)

These two workshops are traditionally offered through UofG's Learning and Professional Development for faculty and staff members on campus, but Drs. Kafashan and Wehcamp are specifically tailoring their respective workshops to incorporate and address the needs of TAs and of graduate student and postdoctoral instructors at Guelph. Completing either workshop will count toward Foundations' credit under the category of Elective.

We hope to see you at one or both of these new workshops, and we are looking forward to working together specifically on mental health and wellness as well as on indigeneity in our classrooms and teaching.
