Teaching and Learning Innovations (TLI) Conference

Our annual TLI Conference brings together everyone who teaches and supports learning across the University of Guelph, University of Guelph-Humber, and Ridgetown Campus. Educators gather to share teaching ideas, learn from research about our students, and celebrate the teaching happening across our campuses. 

Who it’s for 

TLI is for everyone who teaches and supports learning at UofG, UofGH, and Ridgetown: faculty, college professors, instructors, staff, graduate students, and teaching assistants. Whether you’ve been teaching for decades or are just starting out, you’re welcome to attend, present, or both. 

What to expect 

The program changes from year to year, but you can expect conversations with colleagues across disciplines and campuses, sessions that share teaching ideas and research, and time to connect. 

 

Save the Date 

The 2027 TLI Conference will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2027, in-person at the University of Guelph main campus. This year's theme is Rooted and Growing: Teaching Together in Changing Times.  

Registration will open in March 2027 and will be free. This year, registration is open only to faculty, instructors, staff, graduate students, teaching assistants, and undergraduate students at the University of Guelph, University of Guelph-Humber, and Ridgetown Campus. This is a change from past years. We are not able to accept registrations from individuals outside our three campuses for 2027. 

 

Call for Proposals  

Be part of this year’s conference! We’re inviting proposals for research talks about our learners and roundtable conversations about teaching ideas from across our campuses. Faculty, instructors, staff, graduate students, and teaching assistants from all three campuses are welcome to submit. 

The proposal submission form will open in early December. Proposals are due Friday, February 26, 2027.

Call for TLI Memories and Photos 

For nearly four decades, TLI has brought people together to talk about teaching. As we gather for the TLI Conference on Wednesday, May 12, 2027, we’re putting together a slideshow to play over lunch, and we want it full of your stories and photos. We’d love: 

  • photos from past TLI conferences (the older and more nostalgic, the better) 

  • a sentence or two about a favourite TLI moment, session, or person 

  • photos of old programs, name tags, swag, or anything else you’ve held onto 

  • an idea or practice you learned at TLI that changed your teaching 

Share your photos or memories in this Qualtrics form by Friday, April 23, 2027. 

A quick note: by sending photos, you’re giving us permission to share them during the Conference and in OTL communications. If other people appear in your photos, please make sure they’re comfortable being included.
