Erin Aspenlieder
Our People

As Director of the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL), I guide the strategic and operational direction of the unit, working in partnership with the OTL team, the Associate Vice-President (Academic) and campus collaborators to advance teaching and learning.
My perspective on academic leadership has been shaped by more than 15 years in educational development, including senior roles at Sheridan College and McMaster University. At Sheridan, I served as Associate Vice-Provost, leading a team in digital learning, teaching development, quality assurance, and educational technologies. At McMaster, I helped lead initiatives on generative AI, continuous curriculum improvement and the professional development of teaching.
With a PhD in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University, my academic roots are in critical theory and narrative—threads that continue to inform my thinking about learning, meaning-making, and the future of higher education. I’ve taught undergraduate and graduate courses in literature, teaching and learning, and critical AI literacies. In all my work - whether teaching or administration - I aim to create contexts for positive change.
I look forward to collaborating widely to shape an institution that sees teaching as a space for care and possibility.
