Dr. Martin Williams received his PhD from Imperial College, University of London, in 1993. That same year, he began a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Guyana, where he served as Head of the Department from 1993 to 1996. In 1999, Dr. Williams received a Commonwealth Post-doctoral Fellowship to conduct research on quantum dot luminescent concentrators for solar cell applications at Imperial College, University of London. Dr. Williams joined the Department of Physics at the University of Guelph in 2005, where he is now an associate professor. Dr. Williams’s research focuses on Physics Education Research, including modern pedagogy, physics learning environments, and Teaching Assistant training. He explores interactive teaching techniques, such as peer response systems and active learning classrooms, and designs inquiry-based labs to improve undergraduate learning outcomes.
