Pauline began teaching in 1993 in the south of England. She still proudly lists her profession as a teacher because it is, and always was, her dream job—everything else is a bonus. She was inspired to become a teacher at the age of nine after meeting her paternal aunt, an elementary school teacher visiting the family from Jamaica.

After moving to Canada with her family, Pauline started teaching as a supply teacher. She has since built her career, progressing to administrative roles within the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB). In 2016, Pauline spent a year on secondment with the Ministry of Education’s Demonstration School Branch as a special education specialist. She credits this experience with the Ministry as instrumental in preparing her for her role as Vice Principal in the WRDSB in 2018. Pauline is currently the System Principal in the Indigenous, Equity, and Human Rights Department within Learning Support Services, supporting K–12 education.
