Learn about Open Educational Resources from your University of Guelph's OpenEducational Resource (OER) Ranger

Open Educational Resources (OER) are freely accessible and openly licensed educational materials that empower educators and learners worldwide. These resources include textbooks, multimedia content, lesson plans, and more, allowing individuals to access, use, adapt, and share high-quality educational materials at no cost. OER promote collaboration and innovation in education by breaking down traditional barriers to learning, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing, and democratizing access to education. Embracing OER not only reduces financial barriers for students but also encourages a dynamic and inclusive educational ecosystem where educators can customize content to meet diverse learning needs. Open Educational Resources play a pivotal role in transforming education into a more accessible, equitable, and collaborative endeavor for learners of all backgrounds.
