During Summer 2021, the Office of Teaching and Learning will be hosting a virtual book club to discuss Radical Hope: A Teaching Manifesto (Gannon, 2020). Book club discussions are open to all University of Guelph faculty and instructional staff (including sessionals). At each meeting, book club members will take part in a facilitated discussion of one or two chapters of Radical Hope and discuss your thoughts, questions or share experiences from their own classes.

What does learning during the pandemic look like for you and your fellow Gryphons? If you could capture your learning experiences in an image, what would that image look like?  

The Provost’s Task Force on Pedagogical Innovation has been working since January to identify teaching and learning initiatives and develop plans to promote and support the implementation of those initiatives.

For the past two semesters, faculty and staff from across the University have gathered monthly to discuss Small Teaching Online by Darby and Lang (fall) and The Spark of Learning: Energizing the College Classroom with the Science of Emotion by Cavanagh (winter). We plan to continue our OTL Virtual Book Club in the Summer 2021 semester.

Our Remote Teaching Strategies website has been updated with a new page with strategies and resources to build belongingness, community, and connection in remote courses. This site includes six strategies to support community and connection before the semester begins and during the first two weeks of the semester.
