2021-22 Program Information

The 2021-22 Inquire Program will be launching in May 2021.

Please download and complete the Application form and return via e-mail to otl@uoguelph.ca.

Applications are due Friday, April 16th, 2021.

Program Structure and Dates:

The Inquire program consists of a combination of intensive workshops, self-directed learning (e.g., reading, participating in webinars, watching videos on SoTL), and collaborative learning.

Action Institute

Synchronous and asynchronous online engagement

A 3-day intensive program designed to introduce participants to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and provide time and support for participants to launch their SoTL project.

Participants will refine their research question(s), identify method(s) to address the question(s), and identify ethical considerations for their SoTL project.   

Workshop: Research Ethics Board Submissions

and

Survey, Interview, and Focus Group Development
June 7th, 2021 
9:00 – 12:00

Facilitators will share best practice recommendations for survey, interview, and focus group design.

Participants will develop and refine survey, interview, and focus group questions, and receive feedback on their instruments.

Katelyn Wadleigh, Manager, Research Ethics, will join us from 11:00 – 12:00 for a presentation and question-and-answer session on gaining research ethics approval for SoTL research.
Mid-Summer Action Learning Set Week of July 12th, 2021 (Date and Time TBD)

An Action Learning Set is a group-based problem-solving approach that emphases learning from experience and acting on that learning.

Each participant will discuss a problem or issue that they are grappling with related to their Inquire research project. The group will ask clarifying questions and help generate ways to proceed.

Action Learning Set 2 Week of October 11th, 2021 (Date & Time TBD) Each participant will discuss a problem or issue that they are grappling with related to their Inquire research project. The group will ask clarifying questions and help generate ways to proceed.
Action Learning Set 3 Week of November 8th, 2021 (Date & Time TBD Each participant will discuss a problem or issue that they are grappling with related to their Inquire research project. The group will ask clarifying questions and help generate ways to proceed.
Research Progress Presentations Week of December 13th, 2021 (Date & Time TBD) Each participant will discuss a problem or issue that they are grappling with related to their Inquire research project. The group will ask clarifying questions and help generate ways to proceed.

Inquire participants will present their Inquire projects to a public audience as part of the 2022 Teaching and Learning Innovations Conference.
Inquire Writing Retreat June 2022

Inquire participants can choose to participate in a facilitated writing retreat.
