Intercultural Awareness

Working within cultural difference in classrooms, labs, supervisory duties or other teaching/learning environments relies on an individual’s ability to identify current strengths and challenges around navigating difference.

Intercultural competency speaks to the knowledge, skills, behaviours, attitudes and abilities to function effectively with people across different cultures.  Intercultural competency extends well beyond the notions of ethnicity-based culture and nationality-based culture and includes how we may interact with any group of individuals that exhibit “their way of live and being,” for example, student culture, digital culture etc.

Upcoming opportunities include sessions on Intercultural Competency for Teaching and Learning
