GTC – Seminar Series (NETW)

Join us to learn about Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research happening at the University of Guelph! Three graduate researchers will present their SoTL projects and there will be opportunities to ask questions about their research and network with other teaching assistants and graduate students.  Intended Learning Outcomes  By the end of this seminar, successful participants should be able to:   Describe examples of SoTL research being conducted by University of Guelph researchers   

GTC – Teaching Dossier Writing Café #1

Have you attended or will you be attending a Foundations workshop about Teaching Philosophy Statements or Teaching Dossiers? Feeling inspired to get started but haven't found the time? The Teaching Dossier Writing Cafés are for you! These sessions aim to provide a space for grad students to come together and work on developing their teaching dossiers, including their teaching philosophy statements. Using breakout rooms there will be space to either work quietly or to discuss your ideas with your peers.

The Spark of Learning – Book Club (3)

Join Educational Developers from the Office of Teaching and Learning for a Virtual Book Club discussing The Spark of Learning: Energizing the College Classroom with the Science of Emotion (Cavanagh, S., 2016). The Spark of Learning considers the emotional impact of teaching style and course design using a wide range of evidence from the study of education, psychology, and neuroscience, and provides practical examples of successful classroom activities from a variety of disciplines in secondary and higher education. 

Foundations – Teaching Dossiers (RTCR)

This workshop counts towards the University Teaching Foundations program under the category of Reflective Teaching and Career Readiness (RTCR).  A teaching dossier is an integral document for evidencing and communicating your teaching practice and experience to your readers. They are a concise summary of your teaching accomplishments and effectiveness, often required when applying for academic positions, promotion, or critical reflection on your teaching practice.

GTC - SoTL Journal Club #21 (TLJC)

This journal club counts towards the University Teaching Foundations program under the category of SoTL Journal Club (TLJC).   Join us for our online Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) journal clubs, where we discuss a recent teaching publication. If you missed previous meetings, do not worry! We will send an email with the paper in advance and it will also be posted on the EventBrite page once available. Please read the paper and bring any questions, comments or critiques with you.  Intended Learning Outcomes
