Modifying Assessments for Increasing Class Sizes: OAC

Dates: Tuesday, July 30, 2024 | 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM and Thursday, August 01, 2024 | 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM

Facilitators: Dr. Christopher Laursen & Shehroze Saharan (Office of Teaching and Learning)

Description: This two-part workshop provides resources and guidance to adapt assessments for an increase in the number of students in the course.

In Part 1, instructors will evaluate how to achieve a manageable and effective combination of assessments in their course. They will map which assessments meet which learning outcomes to determine where modifications could be made. From there, the workshop will guide instructors on a variety of strategies to modify assessment design and structure, and consider ways to reduce grading workload.

In Part 2 of the workshop, instructors will bring their revised assessment ideas, anticipated challenges, and unanswered questions to continue refining assessments with peer and OTL support.

Please bring your course learning outcomes to the session. However, we will not focus on making changes to them.
