TLI 2026 Call for Proposals

The Call for Proposals for the 2026 Conference is now closed. You will be notified of the results of your proposal submission by the end of February.
We invite all faculty, sessionals, instructors, staff, educational developers, and students (graduate and undergraduate) to submit a proposal for the 2026 Teaching and Learning Innovations Conference. Proposal submissions will include a session title, stream selection, author(s) information, an abstract (200 words), the intended learning outcomes of your session, a description of how you plan to engage or interact with participants (for research- or practice-based presentation, roundtable and interactive sessions only), and technical requirements.
Under the theme of Conditions for Learning, we invite proposals in the following streams, which are detailed on our main 2026 TLI Conference webpage:
- Physiological and Basic Needs
- Safety and Security
- Belonging and Relationships
- Esteem and Empowerment
- Self-Actualization and Growth
Session Format:
Please see the details for each session format type below:
Research- or Practice-based presentation, in-person or online (20-min presentation + 5 min questions)
- Individuals sharing their research on teaching and learning, for example Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL), Educational Research, Discipline-Based Educational Research (DBER)
- Individuals sharing teaching evidence-based or promising practices, strategies, and examples from their own teaching experiences.
Interactive session, in-person or online (50-min)
- These sessions combine brief presentations with meaningful, interactive activities that engage all participants. Facilitators should set aside time for questions within the 50-min time slot (e.g., 10 minutes).
Roundtable, in-person (60-min)
- Share a project, program, activity, strategy, or approach through an interactive discussion. Each presenter will lead two identical 20-minute discussions within a 60-minute block. A 5-minute set up/transition period will occur between rounds for participant rotation. Roundtables will seat a maximum of 8-10 participants per discussion. Multiple sessions will run concurrently, so expect a dynamic and engaging atmosphere. The roundtable session will be held in-person only on Thursday, May 21st. Please note that no A/V equipment will be provided – please plan for a no-tech, discussion-based format with printouts or visual aids if helpful. Please avoid using laptops, tablets, or phones to present slides.
Poster, in-person
- Share a research project, program, activity, strategy, or approach. Posters may be projects that are completed, in progress, or in their beginning stages. All posters will be pinned to a flat 5’ x 4’ board that we will provide. The poster session will be held in-person only on Thursday, May 21st. Note that we cannot provide power outlets for the Poster Session.
