The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) announces the launch of two institutional teaching and learning initiatives: the University Teaching Leadership Fellows and the University of Guelph Teaching and Learning Network.
During Fall 2022, the Office of Teaching and Learning will be host an online book club to discuss Infusing Critical Thinking into Your Course: A Concrete, Practical Approach (Nilson, 2021). Book club discussions are open to all University of Guelph faculty and instructional staff (including sessionals). At each meeting, book club members will take part in a facilitated discussion of 3 chapters of the book and discuss your thoughts, questions or share experiences from their own classes.
Since its inception in 2006, the Learning Enhancement Fund (LEF) has provided funding to support and enrich the learning experience of our undergraduate students. This year, we are again pleased to announce this call for proposals to the LEF. The Provost’s Task Force on Pedagogical Innovation concluded their work in June 2021. Each of the four working groups created reports to share their recommendations for pedagogical innovation at UofG.

The Provost’s Task Force on Pedagogical Innovation has been working since January to identify teaching and learning initiatives and develop plans to promote and support the implementation of those initiatives.
For the past two semesters, faculty and staff from across the University have gathered monthly to discuss Small Teaching Online by Darby and Lang (fall) and The Spark of Learning: Energizing the College Classroom with the Science of Emotion by Cavanagh (winter). We plan to continue our OTL Virtual Book Club in the Summer 2021 semester.
